Victims of offences

In 2023, reported to the South Australia Police (SAPOL):

  • 71.7 per 10,000 of children and young people under 18 years who were victims of offences (excluding sexual assault and related offences) (47.7 in 2019).
  • 17.8 per 10,000 of children and young people under 18 years who were victims of sexual assault and related offences (17.9 in 2022).

Arrests

In 2023, 69.1 per 10,000 for children and young people (10 to 17 years) who were apprehended (arrested and/or reported) by police (81.2 in 2019).

Police diversions

In 2023-24, 28% of youth offenders (10 to 17 years including) were diverted from the youth justice system in SA (33.7% in 2018-19).
